Lt. Gov. Tim Murray to Resign

CBS Boston reports Murray has a new job lined up already.

UPDATE, 12:15 p.m.: The Massachusetts Republican Party was quick to jump on the reports about Murray's resignation, saying Murray is trying "to outrun the scandal that dogs him" in a statement on their website. MassGOP attempted to liken Murray's exit to that of former House Speaker Thomas Finneran, who was convicted of obstruction of justice in 2007. “History doesn’t always repeat itself, but in this case it looks like Tim Murray is following the same path as a previous, disgraced Democratic official,” said Nate Little MassGOP Executive Director in the scathing statement. “Only time will tell if Murray follows the Finneran playbook to the end, complete with indictment and guilty plea.” UPDATE, 10:45 a.m.: Boston.com has updated their …

Murray Not Running For Governor; Who Should Run?

Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray will not run for governor in 2014, citing the demands of campaigning, serving in elected office and his desire to spend more time with his wife and two young daughters.

Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray will not run for governor in 2014, citing the demands of campaigning, serving in elected office and his desire to spend more time with his wife and two young daughters, reported his hometown newspaper the Telegram & Gazette of Worcester. “It's something I have been thinking about for some time,” Murray said of the decision, which he said came after sitting down to talk it through with his wife, Tammy, and key supporters since the Christmas holidays. Murray, who was mayor of the City of Worcester, told the Telegram & Gazette the demands of running a campaign and serving in office can require 15- and 16-hour days, six and seven days a week and would leave him little time to be with his family. Ground Breaking: South Acton Commuter Rail Station (Video)

A ground-breaking ceremony took place Thursday, Dec. 20.

State and local officials gathered Thursday for a ground-breaking ceremony at the site of the planned new South Acton commuter rail station along the Fitchburg line, at 15 Maple St.  Lt. Gov. Tim Murray, MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott, Transportation Secretery Richard Davey, State Sen. Jamie Eldridge, State Rep. Jen Benson plus local officials were among those in attendance.  "We break ground not just on a new commuter rail station, which benefits Acton and the surrounding community," Murray said.
