Acton-Boxborough Boys' Lacrosse Drops Shot At All Out DCL Title

The Colonials lost 14-6 to host Lincoln-Sudbury on Tuesday. The loss give L-S at least a share of the conference title, while requiring a victory from A-B for a postseason berth.

With an all out DCL (Large) title on the line, Lincoln-Sudbury reminded Acton-Boxborough boys' lacrosse why it was the defending champ. Giving up seven goals in the second quarter, A-B dropped a 14-6 loss to host L-S and gave the Warriors at least a share of the conference title. “Other than that second quarter we played well, but we had some mental lapses and they brought it,” said A-B coach Pat Ammendolia. “We had some seams that they found and they were sticking shots.” A-B (11-6, 5-2 DCL Large) will need a win against Newton South to split the DCL (Large) with L-S (8-7, 6-2 DCL Large) and grab a postseason berth. Acton-Boxborough Boys' Lacrosse Throws Last Punch In DCL Shootout

The host Colonials scored in the final seconds to beat Lincoln-Sudbury 8-7 on Tuesday.

After trading goals with Lincoln-Sudbury throughout the second half, Colonials boys' lacrosse had the answer in final seconds on Tuesday. Burying a deep side of the net goal with thirteen seconds remaining, junior Kyle Soroka sent the final punch in what was a 8-7 home win for A-B over their DCL (Large) rivals. “Certainly having the ball last at the end of the game helps,” said A-B coach Pat Ammendolia. “We have a freelance style offense and they get creative as athletes. We tell them go out their and be athletes and it works.” Coming off a one-handed behind-the-net game-tying goal by A-B junior Tyler McKelvie at 6:52 in the fourth quarter, the Colonials had the ball with 1:16 remaining in the game. 5 Acton-Boxborough Teams to Watch this Spring

Acton-Boxborough High School's athletic teams begin another Spring sports season.

The Spring sports season is here for the Acton-Boxborough High School athletic teams and the Colonials look to improve upon a successful 2010 Spring sports season that saw three of their teams advance deep into state tournament play. The Spring season is officially underway for A-B with a few games this week and the majority of the schedule starting next week. 1.) Girls Tennis - The A-B girls tennis team finished the 2010 season with a record of 17-3. They lost, 3-2, in the 2010 MIAA Division 1 North state tournament. A-B returns six of their top seven players from last years team, led by first singles player and Division 1 state singles champion, senior Amy Li.
