A total of 53 students completed the annual internship program, which allows students work experience outside the classroom.
Acton-Boxborough Regional High School held celebration of this year's senior interns on May 30. This event was the final event of the Senior Internship Program and it was an opportunity for this year's interns, 53 seniors, to share their experiences with staff and A-B administration members. The Senior Internship Program is an opportunity to have an in-depth experience in a career or special interest in the public, private, or non-profit business sectors. Seniors who are accepted into the program will spent the last three weeks of the school year focusing on a particular career, while completing various program requirements. Outgoing lieutenant governor said recent controversies had nothing to do with decision to resign.
Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Tim Murray said none of the controversies that have dogged him during his tenure on Beacon Hill contributed to his decision to announce his resignation. In a press conference at the State House Wednesday, Murray said his final day on the job will be June 2. The next day he will take over as president and CEO of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce where his salary will reportedly be around $200,000. In January, Murray said he had no intention of running for governor when Gov. Deval Patrick's term expires in January 2015. "This has been a very difficult but empowering decision," Murray said. The fundraiser for the American Cancer Society was held May 18 at NARA Park.
Participants of the 2013 Relay for Life of Acton-Boxborough can enjoy a much-deserved pat on the back today after raising $60,311.30 for the annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. In total, there were 34 teams and 323 participants who walked at NARA Park on May 18. The Relay is an organized, overnight community fundraising walk where teams of people camp out around a track. Members of each team take turns walking around the track. There is food, games and activities to provide entertainment and build camaradeie. Because it’s a team event, individual participants are not required to be there the entire time.
