A person was reportedly trapped under a vehicle for a time.
Scanner reports indicate that a pedestrian was struck and then trapped under a vehicle this afternoon in the Stop & Shop parking lot at 100 Powdermill Road. According to reports, the pedestrian was extricated from under the vehicle and was being prepared for transport at about 3:50 p.m. No further information is available at this time, but Patch will update the story as more information becomes available.
An elderly woman was struck by her husband's vehicle this afternoon while he was parking his car. The woman suffered serious injuries to her legs.
According to Lieutenant Ray Grey of the Acton Police Department, Elinor Cann, 94, Bedford, MA, was struck by her 95 year-old husband, Robert Cann, Bedford, MA, who was parking his car in front of Talbots at the Acton shopping plaza at 145 Great Road at approximately 1:30 p.m. Elinor was out of the vehicle when Robert backed up and knocked her to the ground and ran over her legs causing serious injuries. Elinor was taken by ambulance to the Acton Public Safety facility where she was then flown to Beth Israel hospital in Boston, MA. There were no other injuries reported and the case is currently under investigation. This was initially reported on Acton Patch earlier today.

According to the Acton Police, an elderly woman was struck by a vehicle outside of Talbots (in the parking plaza at 145 Great Road, Acton) at approximately 1:40 p.m. A Medflight helicopter was used to transport her to the hospital. Yes, really. I agree that too many people are chatting when they should be driving. I would never chat on my cellphone in a parking lot! But lots of drivers AND pedestrians do. Of course they have the right to not be run over, and of course it's the driver's fault if there's an accident.
