The holiday is Sunday but will be observed on Monday.

Restaurants, bars: Open Convenience stores: Open Supermarkets: Open Retail stores: Are allowed to open if the owners choose Liquor stores: Open City, Town, State, and Federal offices and facilities are closed: This includes– schools, libraries and the Postal Service (express mail will be delivered). Only emergency services are available. Financial Services: Check with your bank. Stock market: Open, as are international markets.

Veterans Day is Sunday and to mark the occassion, Acton Patch invites you to share photos of Acton servicemen and women so the whole town can honor those who serve our nation. Add photos to this gallery of your loved ones, friends and family members who served and currently serve in the Armed Forces. Local Deals Abound for Veterans Day

Local businesses salute our service men and women with special deals year-round as well as on Veterans Day.

A Subway representative tells us this is inaccurate; Subway restaurants have replaced the local promotion of past years with a national-level partnership with Wounded Warrior Project, and they area donating $111,112 to help veterans in lieu of offering free sandwiches locally.) Five Things You Need to Know Today: November 11

It's Veterans Day. On behalf of Acton Patch, thank you Veterans.

Veterans Day Memorial Ceremony: 1). The unveiling of Acton's new Veterans memorial will start at 10 a.m. at the Town Common (across the street from the Acton Town Hall). There will be a reception in the Faulkner Room of the Acton Town Hall following the ceremony. Veterans and their families are welcome. No School Today: 2). Acton-Boxborough Regional School District: No School for Veteran's Day. Willy Wonka: 3). Theatre with A Twist, Inc. will present their production of Willy Wonka, Kids. The play will start at 7 p.m. at 55 Hartley Road, Stow. Tickets are $10. Where in Acton? 4). Today (and everyday) at 4 p.m., Acton Patch will roll out a new and fun weekly contest. Acton's Veterans Memorial Ready for Ceremony (VIDEO)

Two major monuments have been built in Acton within a time span of a few months. The Acton 9/11 memorial and now, the Acton Veterans Memorial.

It wasn't too long ago when a great number of local residents came out to see the unveiling of the new Sept. 11 Monument at the Acton Public Safety facility. On Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11, a new Veterans monument will officially be a part of Acton's many memorials. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the signing of the Armistice in 1918 ended the First World War. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th year of the 21st century, Acton will see a Veterans memorial on their Town Common.
