They offer a full menu of classic American fare. For up-to-the-minute updates on this story and more, follow Acton Patch on Facebook, Twitter, or sign up for our email newsletter. Not Your Average Joe's is asking communities support to help bring comfort to the families who lost loved ones in last week's tragic school shooting that killed 26 people, including 20 children. I am struck by one similarity in all of these scenarios: the financial experts go after dining out as the first line item to be reduced or eliminated. In theory, this is a good idea. Certainly restaurant lunches and dinners cost more than home-cooked meals. But in actuality, these experiences do more than satisfy our hunger; they make us feel pampered (No Dishes!) and offer a welcome respite from our busy lives (Relaxation! Conversation!) One way to keep dining out in the budget is to do it frugally. Here are five Acton eateries that are winning our business by stretching our entertainment dollars. Bella Famiglia, 59 Great Road…

While most restaurants in Acton were closed because of Irene Sunday night, Not Your Average Joe's stayed open.
Irene left many in the community without power, and the unprepared without food. Not Your Average Joe's had a line of people waiting to sit down and have a meal at 8:30 p.m. last night. Most of the town was pitch black, but when you drove by Joe's, it was lit up like a carnival.
