On the article CORRECTION: A Future Uncertain for German at LHS

ReplyUnfortunately this article has some of the facts inaccurate. While the School Committee did not reverse the administration's decision to not offer German 1 in the fall we did unanimously vote to include German 1 in the program of Study for both the '13-'14 and '14-'15 school years. We are hopeful that by partnering together with the community we can encourage more students to take German in the future, and thereby strengthen the program for the long term. We also heard from the administration that if it is decided to offer German 1 in the future, short of an unforeseen catastrophe students will be able to continue with German for the remainder of their LHS career.

ReplyThis is actually slightly outdated. Noah Coolidge is the student representative, Mary Ann Stewart is the chair and Alessandro Alessandrini is the vice chair. Rod Cole isn't on the committee, and I am - Bonnie Brodner (2014).
Thanks .....

ReplyI saw this movie last week and although I don't remember the exact age the educator said in the quote "When six-year-olds are using flash cards, they should be sucking their thumbs and toes -- and there's a reason for that" I am sure it was NOT six-year-olds in that quote. It may have been 6 month olds, but the educator was talking about babies in this quote .... not elementary aged kids. The meaning is completely changed by having the age be 6 years old, rather than what was actually said.

When taking into account the decrease of the sales tax and increase in personal exemptions for those families on the lower and even middle end of the earning scale, this will be more money in their pockets. As far as the property tax, if communities are getting more $$ from the State for education and transportation they could very well choose to lower property taxes. I'm not sure what better way the Governor would have to lower propert taxes than increasing the revenue to cities & towns for the services they must provide.
