Former Acton Gym Owner Stephen DiTullio Guilty of Perjury

Stephen DiTullio was found guilty of perjury in connection of a child rape case.

Stephen DiTullio, 57, of Littleton, former owner of the Gym Nest in Acton, was found guilty in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn on charges of perjury in connection with his testimony in the case involving Steven Infante, a gymnastics coach, who raped and assaulted a former gymnast.

DiTullio will be sentenced today at 9 a.m. Stay tuned at Acton Patch for the sentence.

Infante was a good friend of Ditullio, who owned the Gym Nest in Acton (which was later relocated to Stow with the name the Five Star Gymnastics). In the early 1990’s, Infante was a gymnastics coach in Massachusetts and Connecticut and was in charge of many over night camps for both gyms. In 2007, three victims reported that they were sexually assaulted and/or raped by Inafante.

“This defendant has been found guilty for providing false statements during an investigation that involved the rape and sexual assaults on young women by their Coach,” District Attorney Leone said. “DiTullio and Infante both engaged in egregious violations of trust, and troubling exhibitions of power and control over vulnerable victims. We take such deliberate tampering with the pursuit of justice very seriously and I commend the jury for their just verdict today. I also thank the courageous victims in this case for coming forward.”

The first incident took place in 1991, where victim number one, 14 at the time, female, was sexually assaulted by Infante at DiTullio’s home in Littleton during a sleepover for the gymnastics team.

The second incident took place again at DiTullio’s home in Littleton in 1992, where victim number one was taken to DiTullio’s home by Infante after a gymnastics meet and was raped in DiTullio’s bed. Infante informed Ditullio of the incident that took place in his bedroom. Victim number one was also raped between the fall of 1992 and the fall of 1994.

In 1993, victim number two, who was a 16-year-old female gymnast, coached by Infante, was taken to DiTullio’s home in Littleton and was sexually assaulted by Infante.

According to a press release, “during the investigation into Infante’s criminal actions, multiple witnesses provided testimony to the Grand Jury that both the defendant and Infante provided alcohol to junior counselors at the summer camp sessions, and were present when junior counselors consumed alcohol.”

DiTullio testified under oath to the Grand Jury, denying any involvement in or knowledge of junior counselors drinking alcohol at camp in the early 1990’s and stated that drinking never occurred in his presence.
